JICA and North Central Province Discuss Project Expansion and Industrial Plan – 2026.09.10
Project officials from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Chief Secretary of the North Central Province held a special discussion on September 10, 2026, at the Chief Secretary’s Office.
The meeting focused on the current progress of various development projects currently being implemented in the region by JICA. Building upon the successful outcomes of these initiatives, JICA officials requested the intervention of the North Central Provincial Council to further expand the projects across the entire province. Additionally, special attention was paid to the “North Central Province Industrial Development Plan,” which is being formulated for the first time at a provincial level in Sri Lanka. Recognizing this plan as a crucial milestone for the future advancement of the province’s industrial sector, both parties held cordial discussions regarding the necessary next steps for its successful implementation.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary, the Deputy Chief Secretary (Planning), officials from the Provincial Planning and Operations Department, JICA project officials, and project coordinator Mr. Suzuki.
