Establishment of the Internal Affairs Unit within the North Central Provincial Chief Secretary’s Office – 2026.10.05
In accordance with Circular No. PS/SB/Circular/2/2025 issued by the Presidential Secretariat on February 18, 2025, the Internal Affairs Unit was established within the North Central Provincial Chief Secretary’s Office on April 21, 2025. The opening ceremony of the Internal Affairs Unit was conducted by the Chief Secretary of the North Central Province. The Head of the Internal Affairs Unit, Mrs. R.M.D.P. Pushpa Kumari, Integrity Officer Mrs. Fathima Shashira, along with the member officers and support staff of the Internal Affairs Unit, participated in this occasion. At that time, the unit was established within the ground floor building of the Provincial Council Complex. Subsequently, on October 5, 2026, the unit was relocated and established on the fourth floor within the Chief Secretary’s Office building premises.
The objectives of establishing this unit include preventing corruption within the institution and fostering a culture of integrity, ensuring transparency and accountability in all institutional activities, ensuring public access to information regarding institutional activities and decisions, promoting ethical governance within the organization, encouraging the reporting of misconduct, establishing a secure and accessible mechanism for protecting whistleblowers and maintaining confidentiality, as well as assisting in law enforcement in cooperation with law enforcement agencies and the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption. This unit has been established in our institution with a staff committed to acting in accordance with these objectives.
