247 Organizations from the North Central, Northern, and Eastern Provinces Honored at the National Productivity Competition – 27.10.2026

The event to honor 247 organizations from the North Central, Northern, and Eastern provinces that won Special Commendation and Commendation awards at the National Productivity Competition was held on October 27, 2026, Kilinochchi.

The Governor of the Northern Province, Hon. Nagalingam Vedanayagan, and the Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development, Hon. Chathuranga Abeyasinghe, participated as chief guests.

When applications were called for the 2025/2026 National Productivity Competition by the National Productivity Secretariat, over 6,600 applications were registered nationwide, out of which more than 2,800 applications were received [from these regions]. Following the initial selection, 2,056 organizations were directly inspected through field visits. Based on these evaluations, 1,669 organizations were selected for awards.

Nationally, six organizations qualified for Gold awards, 12 for First Place, 99 for Second Place, and 331 for Third Place. Furthermore, 568 organizations qualified for Special Commendation awards and 653 for Commendation awards.

The event was attended by the Director General of the National Productivity Secretariat, the Chief Secretary of the North Central Province, Government Agents (District Secretaries) of the Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, and Anuradhapura districts, ministry secretaries, government officials, representatives of the respective organizations, and school principals, among others.
